Protecting Minors
19+ Only
Ottawa Casino is for adults only, and every player must be at least 19. Under-19s cannot register, deposit, claim Promotions or play any of our games, including free slot versions and Live Casino tables.
Ottawa Casino takes players only from areas where gambling is allowed under local rules. Our checks meet Canadian standards for confirming identity and age and for anti money laundering. Stopping minors from playing comes first, without exception.
Our promotions are meant for adult players only. Nothing in our marketing uses images, characters or themes built to appeal to young people. Our ads are also kept off channels where most of the audience is likely under 19.
Shared Devices
Laptops, tablets and phones are often used by everyone in a home. If a young person uses the same device you play on, a few simple habits help keep your account out of reach:
- sign out whenever you finish playing, rather than simply closing the window
- disable saved passwords for Ottawa Casino in your browser
- on a shared computer, set up your own user profile with its own password
- secure your phone using a PIN, fingerprint or face recognition
- keep payment cards and banking apps away from children
Responsibility for all account activity rests with you. If someone under 19 is allowed to use your account, that breaches our Terms of Service and the account will be closed.
If a Minor Is Found
If we discover that someone under 19 opened an account or used an adult's account to play, we act at once: the account is suspended, all play on it is voided and any winnings are withheld.
After our checks are complete, deposits we can trace back to the payment method used are refunded. We may also get in touch with the adult whose personal information or payment method was involved, and we keep a record of the case so the same person cannot open a new account.
Please email us if you are aware of, or suspect, a minor using Ottawa Casino. All reports are handled confidentially and looked into promptly.
How We Check Age
Age verification happens before your first deposit is accepted, never after a win. It checks your legal name in full, your home address and your birth date, and most checks are completed electronically by matching your details against trusted data sources.
If those checks leave your age unconfirmed, we will need valid government photo ID. Accepted documents include a driver's licence, a passport and a photo card issued by your province. You may also need to send a selfie with the ID in hand, so we can confirm the face matches the account holder.
We also confirm your location, and we repeat checks when account details change or when activity suggests the account may be used by someone else. Our Verification and AML page explains the full process.
Parental Controls and Filtering
Parents and guardians can add a strong layer of protection at home. Most devices and networks already include tools that block gambling sites:
- Device settings: the family or screen time features built into phones, tablets and computers can restrict websites and app downloads for a child's profile.
- Browser settings: safe search and site blocking options stop gambling pages from appearing or loading.
- Home router controls: many routers let you filter content for every device on your home network at once.
- App store restrictions: app store age limits stop gambling apps from being installed.
- Dedicated filtering software: paid and free programs can block whole categories of sites, including gambling.
Technical tools work best alongside open conversation. Talking with young people about how casino games work, and why they are for adults, helps them make safer choices online and offline.
The YMCA Youth Gambling Awareness Program offers free information for young people, parents and educators. Adults who are concerned about their own play can also contact ConnexOntario, GameSense or Gamblers Anonymous, all listed on our Safer Play page.
